Love this video! I've cut Paper, Fabric, Felt, Chipboard, household Aluminum foil, Shrink Plastic and Grungepaper with my Spellbinders Dies. I hadn't even thought to cut the packaging from my Dies..that will be next!

Thank you for this video. Even though I knew these items could be used, you don't always remember them and this helps a lot. I am going to put them on an index card and keep it with my dies. Also, 2 other items I have used with my dies are Balsa would that I have found in cigar boxes that I got at a local tobacco shop (free) and Bark that I have collect each Fall from the trees in my yard. They both work great, but the Balsa wood is very delicate and will crack if not careful. I hope this adds to the fun using dies!

Thanks for these reminders Kim. I don't think I would have thought about using pop cans! I love Spellbinders projects and hope that one day I will be able to afford a Grand Calibur and some of the larger dies!

I have cut cork, felt, fun foam, wood paper, fabric, corrugated cardboard, fabric and of course cardstock and patterned paper!

Lori - a tip for cutting balsa wood is to soak it in water first, the wood doesn't tend to split and makes a nice clean cut...let dry, then stamp!
One of my very favorite techniques is flower pressing! Try putting a viola or pansy through the GC with watercolor paper...simply gorgeous!

Sorry I can't help with the fabric as I've never cut it but balsa wood is a very thin, light wood used mostly by model makers. If you're old enough to remember those little airplanes that came packaged with wings, body and a tail that slid together - those were made of balsa wood.

All fabrics are so different, different blends, different thread counts. I've had great luck with using iron on interfacing with cotton, it gives cotton a little stiffness. Canvas Corp. canvas cuts beautifully. My favorite denim is to re-purpose old jeans, not stretchy denim, I've had great luck with it!

Great video Kim and lovely projects from the DT team. In addition to all the things people have mentioned already, most of which I've tried too, I've used coffee filters, they are fantastic for flowers like with the rose creations dies. Because they are double, with one set of dies you get two of each cut, great for layering!

Astrid - thanks for sharing the coffee filter idea, they are wonderful and if you spritz them with a little coloring you can get some great colors!
Ever try cupcake liners?? You can cut lots of layers with them at once, the foil liners are really pretty too!
*A tip when cutting fabrics, sometimes simply adding a piece of copy paper over the fabric forces the fabric to cut rather than stretch over the die!

Sofia, I cut a lot of different types of material with Spellbinders Die Templates, I have made a baby quilt all using Spellbinders Die Templates. Just like Kim said try using the thin copy paper, it really works. My baby quilt used repurposed denim and cotton material, it was so quick and easy. Have fun and good luck.

Katherine - so sorry you aren't able to hear the video. The materials cut were...foils (silver side), canvas, felt (100% wool felt), burlap, pop (soda) cans, lite weight chipboard, tissue paper, corrugated cardboard, cork paper, lite weight (thin) leather, fun foam, fabric, heavy weight cover stock, colored foil, faux leather, vellum, magnets, Spellbinders packaging.

Add to the list of items to cut.......foam take out containers or foam plates.........they cut like butter and look like pearl paper......great for lace look like the Borderabilities dies.

I have cut most of the things you mentioned, but you should try metallic silver duct tape on top of cardstock or chipboard- then you can emboss it and it looks great with alcohol ink!
Very informative video. I've been meaning to cut some tissue paper (from old sewing patterns) and I wasn't sure how many layers I could cut. Thanks!

A couple more things to try!! Washi tape and the new decorative packing tape! Stick it to wax paper, die cut, then peel off!! FUN!

What is the sandwich for cutting the packaging? I have tried it with A and C and tried shims but it will just indent the spellbinders packaging not cut through. I have a snowflake project and would love to use it, please help! Thanks!

Is it really that time of year again? I just can’t believe it!! The official kick off to summer is upon us, and I am planning my annual cook out, with friends and now family!! Last year, my mom joined us for the long weekend from Ohio. This year, my exciting new family member joining us, is my brother-in-law who has recently relocated to Phoenix, and I now have him here every day! I thought I was blessed last year... this year... it's like a dream come true for me!
