Create a scene   Tuesday, August 28, 2012
by Beate Johns   Post Type: Card

It's my last time to post this month. So for my last technique I thought I show you something that I LOVE to do. I love to color images. When I am done, I like to add a sky to create a scene....so that's what I will be showing today.

Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Supplies:

Preferred Promotional Partners:

 Cross Promotional Partners:

Others:

Sanding Block, Sewing Machine, cardstock, Ink, markers, button, embroidery thread

When I know what image I want to use, I start by checking to see what die will fit/work with the image. If the image is just a little too big and I don't want to use the "Out of the Box Technique" (like shown in this post)  I cut and emboss my cardstock first. Here I cut and embossed white cardstock with the smallest of the gorgeous new Grand Decorative Oval One dies.

I placed the die back over the cardstock and stamped the adorable image. I didn't want stamped line going over my embossed edge of the cardstock. Next the image was colored. Another image was stamped on masking tape and cut out (if you don't have that, use copy paper or post-it notes and removable adhesive).

To create my cloud masks, I ran thin cardstock through a Xyron Creative Station with re-positionable adhesive cartridge. The cardstock with adhesive backing was then cut with dies from the Whimsy die pack, that look like clouds.

The image mask was adhered over the image, the die was placed back over the cardstock and cloud masks were added. I airbrushed my background with a blue marker. You can sponge the background if you don't have an airbrush.

Take the masks off. I save my masks. I store the image masks with the stamp set, the clouds on a piece of acetate. You can use them on your next project. To make the clouds more dimensional, shade parts of them with a gray marker or pencil.

Next I cut one piece of My Mind's Eye™ Life of the Party paper, a piece of white cardstock and a 4 1/4" x 12" piece of cardstock, folded in half with the largest of the Label Twenty-Eight.

The patterned paper piece was sanded, then cut along the raised embossed edge.

A hole was punched on the lower right edge of the image layer and May Arts ribbon was tied through it.

The patterned paper piece was adhered to the white card front. The image layer was adhered in it's center with SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™  Foam Adhesive, the ribbon tied into a bow and topped with a button.Scor-Tape was added to the card base and the card front was adhered over it.

A piece of white cardstock was cut and embossed with the oval insert die from Fancy Framed Tags One die. An image from Every Breath was stamped in the oval center and that embossed center was airbrushed with the same marker that was used for the image background.  The sentiment was adhered over the bow. Part of a Want2Scrap Fancy That! border bling was adhered over the oval and Clearsnap Frost Smooch Glitz was added to the flower in the image to finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have time to add a few clouds to your next image background. It's fun! Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles
