Happy New Year!   Tuesday, January 01, 2013
by Beate Johns   Post Type: Card

I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season and New Year's Eve! I want to wish you a Happy New Year on behalf of the entire Spellbinders Paper Arts family. Since I am posting today, I thought it was only natural to post a Happy New Year's card.

  • White cardstock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Silver Embossing Powder, Embossing Ink, Heat Gun

I used the smallest two Star Five and the smallest of the Star CirclesNestabilities®  dies to cut and emboss Silver Glimmer paper.

I cut and embossed several more stars out of glimmer paper. I wasn't really sure how to create the main panel, so I played around with the stars and different shape dies. I finally settled on the largest Wonky Rectangles Nestabilities® die. I cut and embossed Bazill Basics Paper®- Black Prismatics Cardstock.

A sentiment from JustRite® Stampers Large Fancy Holiday Sentiments was stamped in embossing ink on a 3/4" wide strip of black cardstock. The sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder. The sentiment was too big to be cut with pennant dies, so I used the third smallest of the Classic Square SM Nestabilities® die to cut the ends of the sentiment strip into banner edges.

A 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" piece of white cardstock was embossed with the Holiday Magic  M-Bossabilities® folder. It was adhered to a 3/16" bigger piece of Silver Glimmer paper with Scor-Tape. The stars were adhered to the Wonky Rectangles with glue.

The sentiment strip was first pulled over a bone folder a few times to make it more pliable, then it was formed into banner shape. SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVE BY 3L™  Foam Adhesive Squares were adhered to the back of the wonky rectangle. Four of the adhesive squares were adhered in the center of the strip, so it would keep it's banner shape.

The embossed background was adhered to a 4" x 5 1/4" white card base. Next the wonky rectangle was adhered to the center of the card front. Scor-Tape was adhered to the low points of the back of the banner strip and it was adhered to the bottom of the wonky rectangle layer. Part of a rhinestone swirl were added to the right of the biggest star and rhinestones from a Sleek Strip Silver rhinestones on the ends of the sentiment strip finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to create with your dies today! Have a wonderful day.

Hugs and smiles

Gorgeous card.  Your cards are an inspiration. Yep those glimmer paper are very addictive especially if you like the bling without all that much glitter over the place.
