Drawing Inspiration   Friday, February 01, 2013

Do you have a favorite magazine from which you draw creative inspiration...

Not just online or pintrest but an actual beautiful inspiring book that can be touched! I have several favorites for different creative reasons... One such magazine is Where Women Create. I look forward to every issue and its one publication I love to collect.

I'm overjoyed to share some exciting news with you, I am  actually one of the women featured in the Spring issue of Where Women Create! It was an absolute pleasure and honor to have the editor of the magazine the extraordinary Jo Packem  spend the day with me at my house for the photo shoot. My favorite photographer in the world Allison Tyler Jones who did a fantastic job with the photos of my dream craft room!!

When Jeff and I started Spellbinders back in Ohio, I had a small craft room in our home and I was heart broken to leave it. To console me Jeff said,"To have faith and be patient" and someday if Spellbinders "works" he would build me the craft room of my dreams...Well in the current issue of Where Women Create, you can see he did exactly that!!

It's truly a beautiful and peaceful room where I can create, paint, and enjoy friends. It's my version of a fairy tale craft room. For the last 8 years I have had to either craft at our offices or on our kitchen table. So I'm thrilled to have had faith and patients for my own space. Here is a little tip I wanted to share with all of you. An unique and elegant way to store your favorite glitter is to and explore your favorite rummage sales and fine old glass salt and pepper shakers.

Where do you craft? I want to know? I hear a lot of people these days have a craft room... But many people enjoy crafting anywhere and everywhere!!

Wherever you craft just remember .... It's about the creative journey, not "where"you make it happen. Stampington & Comapny is another of my favorite inspirational spots and has many beautiful publications.... Be sure to explore around the website to see if any of their pubs peak your creative imagination!

Hugs,

First I want to get a small hick up of my breast here. I really wish, we could enlarge the pictures here on your blog, as we can on most other blogs outhere in blogland. I don´t have too good eyes, and wish I could enlarge the pics, so I can see all the small details on them too, that would really be awesome, cause beside this little issue, I love your inspirations sooo much here.
About the craftroom, then I must admit, I´m one of the very lucky people, who´s married to a wonderful man, who just last year build me my dream room here too. We live on an old farm (not used as farm anymore) and last year he cleared the smallest length of the outbuildings completely inside, and made me a huge room on 40m2 to be my craftroom. It´s been created completely after my directions, and turned out to be a real dreamroom. I showed videos of it on a craftforum, I´m on last year, and I got so many acknowledgements from people all over the world. But I also admit, that now a days I litterally spend a lot more hours out here than I do inside my house. He made both a small toilet with it and a small teakitchen with it too, so I don´t have to go in just to grab something during the day he he.  I just absolutely LOVE this room, and I know only too well, how lucky I am. But it has also taken many years to get there. For many years, I also had to use my kitchentable, and then when the kids moved out, I finally got a small room there, and first here last year I finally got my dreamroom here, and that´s probably how it is to most of us, as we gets older, we get more space and ofcause it gets easier to afford, when we don´t have to care for 4 kids anymore LOL. So now I just enjoy my dreamroom every single day, and love every minute here.
Have a wonderful week-end ahead now everybody and lots of crafty fun too.

Congratulations! You are an inspiration to us all!  The pictures of your craft room are gorgeous.  I have a small craft room in my house and I am so glad to have my own space.  It is mostly utilitarian, and not much on beauty (LOL), but it works for me!

Congratulations on having your beautiful space featured! I'm looking forward to having a sticky beak through your stuff when I get my copy :)

How exciting to have your special place featured in that wonderful publication! Congrats! I must admit that I have a room but I don't really craft in there. I store everything in there but still craft in the family room so that I don't miss out on even one minute that we can spend together. I have often thought that I would love to have a little building seperate from the house for a studio but I am not sure that when we are all at home I would really spend much time out there...unless the family came with me!! LOL!!!!

Congratulations!  That is one of my favorite mags.  Love your creative space - the warm wood with the neat storage would stir anyone's creativity -- that flying pig is toooooo cute!

Wow and what a great idea regarding those salt and pepper shakers. I would not want to use the contents as they look so pretty hahaha. I love Where Women Create(from reading online)  but unfortunately we dont get that magazine here in Australia. What a great story of patients. I used to craft on the dining table, now my husband has given me a dundgeon that is huge but I still have no room for all my craft collection hee hee.

Gorgeous room, lovely way to show off your goodies.  I share my craft room with our guest room, I tell everyone they need to call ahead if they are coming so I can have room for them to get around :)

  • Susan Friday, February 01, 2013

Wow Stacey -- your patience definitely paid off!  That craft room is elegant and it must be a dream to work in.  I work in my office/storage room/craft room.

What a wonderful room...and wonderful husband...and wonderful magazine layout...and wonderful way to display and dispense your goodies.  I have a tiny space that is overflowing, so I often just use the kitchen or dining room table (or even my lap) if I just need to assemble a quick card.  If I go into the craft area I often don't come out for hours otherwise.
