Grand Layout   Thursday, February 21, 2013
by Linda Lucas   Post Type: Scrapbook Page

Scrapbooking is something that many of us love to do - if you are anything like me,  you once thought you would never create a layout - but how wrong I was!  It is something I don't get to do often enough but the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities, make it so much easier and do half of the work for us.

I started this layout sometime ago but it was not coming together at all - when I saw this week theme of Grand Layouts, I took it out of the pile of UFO's (Unfinished Objects) and took it apart - it came together so very quickly with the help the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities.

Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Supplies:

Preferred Promotional Partners:

  • Want2Scrap -Beautiful Bling Borders - Endless Waves

Cross Promotional Partners:

Other: Kellycraft™ Get-It-Straight™ Laser Square, blue card, daubers, sanding block, scissors, corrugated card, stickers,

Start by cutting and embossing one (1) Grand Labels One Nestabilities® from the My Mind's Eye™ - On the Bright Side patterned paper and one (1) Ribbon Banners LG Spellbinders™ Shapeabilities® in white card, using the Grand Calibur® Machine  Sand around the embossed edges as shown in the photo below.

Once photo placement is decided, add the Grand Labels One underneath and position it so it is showing to the left of the photo - as shown in the photo below.  I had previously backed the photo with blue card.  Adhere s strip of torn sponged corrugated card below the photo.

Before removing the white card, sue the Ribbon Banners LG Shapeabilities® as a Stencil, sponge with Imagine Crafts/ Tsukineko Brilliance - Galaxy Gold Ink. Insert under the Grand Labels One, above the photo and add a sentiment/word using stickers.  This is made so easy by using the Kellycraft™ Get-It-Straight™ Laser Square.  I have to say, I love this tool - usually I do things at sight and I am surprised how easy this is and accurate - I have used it a number of times on this tutorial - it is well worth checking out.

My sentiment is made of Chipboard letters from my stash.  I have sanded then and embossed using the Harlequin M-Bossabilities™  NOTE: I have used a different 'Sandwich' for the thicker chipboard - The Raspberry Plate and Pink Embossing Plate only - no brown mat!!

The letters are sponged using a Dauber and Imagine Crafts/ Tsukineko Brilliance - Galaxy Gold Ink and Pearlescent Ice Blue, giving a subtle shimmer to the lettering.

The letters are attached using Beacon Adhesives - Zip Dry Paper Glue and positioned onto the corrugated card with the help of the Kellycraft™ Get-It-Straight™ Laser Square - so quick and easy! I have also used the Get-It-Straight™ Laser Square to keep the Want2Scrap -Beautiful Bling Borders - Endless Waves bling strip straight as well.

Some of the Want2Scrap -Beautiful Bling Borders - Endless Waves has also been added along the lower portion of the paper and faux stitching has been added using a Paper Piercer and Mat and a Tsukineko Memento Marker - Peanut Brittle.

I have previously created a Fleur de Lis Spellbinders™ Media Mixáge™ Bezels, cutting a remnant of patterned paper using the Fleur de Lis Spellbinders™ Media Mixáge™ Dies, inserting it into the Bezel and filling with ICE Resin.

Thick twine is tied through the loop and I have lifted the Ribbon Banners LG Shapeabilities® to pop the twine underneath, as this was an after thought - not unusual for me and so easily altered.

The ends of the twine are taped onto the back of the layout and I have also taped a small strip of card across this, so the twine does not catch on anything and come off or tear the layout.

I hope you are inspired to bring out those photos that are just waiting for the right Dies and accessories to capture those memories that will become treasures for family and friends in time to come.  Layouts are a legacy for our loved ones, sharing both our art and our hearts, capturing those special moments that we want to keep with us over the year.  Spellbinders has certainly made this easy for us!

Thank you for stopping by today and for all of the encouragement you leave for us.

{{{hugs}}}
