BBQ Fun   Tuesday, July 10, 2012
by Linda Lucas   Post Type: Scrapbook Page

This weeks theme is barbeques and picnics, featuring some of the new release Dies.  Here in Australia we love to barbeque (BBQ) no matter what the season.  We spend a lot of time in our garden, my husband has created a gorgeous Tuscany area for entertaining and BBQ's.  My layout includes one of my favourite photos taken of my husband and oldest daughter at a BBQ - it captures the fun that is always had and the warmth that closeness that is family.

Other: Paint brush, pearl buckle/slider, flower, old gold brads, button, scissors, printed sentiments

I have started by Die Cutting the Botanical Swirls Enhanceabilities Backgrounds, the second largest Decorative Grand Circles One Nestabilities and the matching Grand Circles Nestabilities.  I have added the Grand Circle inside the Decorative Grand Circles One to create a frame when it is cut.

HINT:  use repositional tape to stop the dies moving when running through the Grand Calibur® Machine

Remove the Grand Circle Die and sponge around the edges using the Clearsnap ColorBox Expresso Ink and a Foam Tip Stylus , pop it up using SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™  foam tape over the photo, creating a frame - it is positioned to the right of the Botanical Swirls Enhanceabilities Backgrounds that has been glued to the patterned paper using Beacon Adhesives - Zip Dry Paper Glue.

Cut two of each of the Jewel Flowers, I have added wax paper to the die, wax side down, it helps with the more detailed Dies and makes them so much easier to get the Die Cut paper out of the Die Template. Sponge the flowers with the ColorBox ink - Curry, using Die as a mask.  Pop some SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ Foam Squares on the back of each size flower.

Also cut the petals of the two largest Rose Creations Flowers, Jewel Flowers and Flourishes, including the gorgeous little filigree butterflies.  Now curl each petal with a paintbrush, layer them using narrow foam tape inbetween the layers for added dimension.  I have added a little recycled rosebud that had fallen off a flower arrangement - the colour is perfect for this layout,  I love recycling on my projects.  Next layer the Jewel Flowers using foam dots inbetween the layers and alternating the petals, as shown in the bottom right hand photo below.

Add the Rose Creation to the center of the lower edge of the frame, followed by the Jewel Flowers.  Add the Jewel Flourishes to either side of the flowers as shown in the photo below

Attach the butterflies from the Jewel Flowers and Flourishes to each side of the frame a shown in the photos below and the leaves under the flower on the left of the Rose Creation.

Now cut two of the Back to Basics Tags, sponge using the ColorBox Ink - Curry, and add sentiments, attach to the layout using old gold brads.  I have added a pearl to the smaller flower for the center and a pearl buckle/slider with a pearl glued to the middle of it for the larger flower.  The third flower has a recycled button with the shank cut off as the center.

Now it is time finish off with the Want2Scrap bling, cutting a strip of the Fancy Waves and adding it below the Background Die and across the top of the photo.
