Have you tried taking an item and making it your own? This month on the Spellbinders™ Blog we are following Stacey's lead and up-cycling. Make sure to watch her video, you're sure to be inspired!! We would love to see what up-cycled project you come up with! Feel free to show us what you've created by posting on the Spellbinders Facebook Page.

I found a mini clipboard in my stash, along with scraps of cardboard and decided to create a home décor piece.

Mini Clipboard, recycled cardboard, velvet trim, sanding block, sand paper, foam brush, paint on adhesive, and glitter paint.

The mini clipboard is approximately 7 x 9”. I traced the shape onto my patterned paper and cut the paper to fit. A thin layer of glue was applied with a foam brush to adhere the paper. I trimmed the edges and sanded them for a distressed look.

Cut/emboss Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents using canvas cardstock and Precious Metal Premium Craft Foil as shown above. I used the Leaf die template as a stencil and applied fluid chalk ink directly to the paper.

I trimmed two pieces of cardboard to fit the bottom of the clipboard, and the metal clip at the top of the clipboard. Tearing and peeling parts of the cardboard pieces really gives them nice texture. Next, I brushed on glitter paint and allowed to dry.

Here you can see how I cut/embossed the Leaf out of Precious Metal Premium Craft Foil. Then, I sanded the entire Leaf die cut. The embossed areas begin to show the silver foil color. I love this distressed look.

Layer the glittered cardboard, die cuts, buttons and trim. Using liquid adhesive, adhere die cuts, cardboard and buttons as shown above.

I used a Standard Circles Large die cut to back the large button.

I love the fact that I can clip a picture and change it out each season, or put a small notepad under the clip to write my notes on. There are lots of ways to use this mini clipboard.
